Okotoks and the Fluoride Issue
No cost. Call the library at 403-938-2220 to register.
Hundreds of communities across Canada, including Vancouver, Victoria, Montreal, Kelowna, Quebec City, and many more, do not currently fluoridate their water. And interestingly they do not necessarily have higher than average rates of dental decay. (In fact, all but one city in BC has stopped fluoridating their water and the province is said to have the lowest rates of dental decay in the country.) Why have they pulled the plug on fluoridation when the benefits of fluoride are so well known? What do they know, or think they know, that we might want to know too? Come learn the answer in this captivating information packed presentation. This presentation will offer a balanced perspective on the pros and cons of adding hydrofluorosilic acid (fluoride) to our water in the light of modern day research and studies. We will also talk about different filtration systems for fluoride removal or reduction, for those so inclined. Presented by: Florence Christophers, B.A., M.Phil.
