Free Comic Book Day

The Okotoks Public Library is excited to invite everyone to come and celebrate Free Comic Book Day! This family-friendly event is a fantastic opportunity for comic book fans of all ages to come together and share their passion for all things comic! 

We will have a fantastic selection of comic books, all available for free! There's something for everyone, from classic superhero stories to the latest graphic novels, visitors of all ages will find something exciting to take home. 

In addition to free comics, there will be plenty of fun activities and events taking place throughout the day.

DROP-IN FAMILY EVENTS. NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

11:00 am to 3:00 pm – Longest Library Comic Book Strip Challenge (All ages)

Help us create a library record for the longest comic strip! Our goal is the length of the library!

11:30 am – Family Superhero Storytime (Children & families)

Calling all superheroes! Come on a story-filled adventure full of heroes and villains!

12:00 pm to 3:00 pm – Balloon Animals & Face Painting (Children, families, & teens)

Get your face painted or have a balloon animal made for you, or enjoy both options! 

1:00 pm – Costume Parade (Children, families, & teens)

This event is perfect for children, teens, and families who love dressing up! Showcase your best comic character costume or any costume and walk down the parade route to music. Stop and strike a pose in front of our comic book backdrop. Parents are invited to take pictures, and everyone else can cheer them on!

2:00 pm - Family Superhero Storytime (Children and families)

All Day – Superhero Selfies (All ages)

Are you ready to save the day? Strike a superhero pose and commemorate your heroic moment with our superhero themed photo backdrop! Costumes and social media sharing are encouraged. 

All Day - Craft Table (Children & families)

Bring your little superheroes to our craft table and let them unlock their super crafting powers! Children can let their imaginations soar as they design their very own superhero masks, flying superhero characters, and more! 

REGISTERED EVENT:

5:30 pm to 7:00 pm – NERF WARS: Comic Book Day Edition

Ages 8-12. 

Bring your Nerf gun, ammo, and eye protection and head to the library for this special after hours event. You are welcome to dress up in costume for this super edition of our popular event.
